As for the function - while definitely hot’n’horny event - IMO not good career move, and I can not help but wonder about her marriage. Would I have interfered, if I was the friend in question? Most likely to the same extent that the concerned lady did, and after being told off like that (unless I knew the person much, much better, and knew that they will regret it next day) I would join the crowd.
It is fine like one walks here, I did things I have regretted afterwards if I had too much (to drink) at the party. I never regretted much worse things that I did while not under the influence.
