I remained silent through his little speech, taking in his words but feelign nothing. The truth is, I was thoroughly exhausted at that point and really had no fight left in me. When he gave me the order to walk to the door, I did so, keeping my hands on the back of my head like a criminal and waited for him to unlock.
There was a moment of trepidation as I passed through the portal on his command, but I received no shock. Grateful for small favors at this point, I let him guide me down the maze of halls with his hand on my back. As we walked I memorized each step I took, counting the number of hallways that branched off the one we were on, the number of turns and so on. I had to find a way to learn the complex inside and out if I were ever to find a way to escape. The entire time I kept my face carefully blank so as not to reveal my thoughts, not that he could see my face, but I didn't want to let on my plans.
He said he would hamstring me if I escaped, I wasn't sure if it was true or not, but when I felt confident I could find my way out, I was willing to call his bluff. I'm valuable property now, right?
