Unfinished stories

There are lots & lots of works in progress but some stories just seem to have been left for dead. One that springs to mind was The Orphan which just seemed to involve a young lad getting filled full of hormones so his guardian can, I assume, eventually have her wicked way with him.

It just dropped off (the story I mean), possibly due to unfavourable reviews...I always wondered where the author was going.

Any others that fall into that category?

There seems to be a few of them ---and yes I would say unfavourable reviews have a lot to do with it ---instead of encouraging new authors we seem to want to destroy them---remember all authors had to start somewhere and please be constructive in your reviews

I agree with you on the reviewers seeming intent on destroying new authors.There again ,some of the harsher reviewers,I seem to note,make a career out of writing harsh reviews,yet have never bothered to post any of their work in the Library(if indeed they have written anything to begin with).There is also the issue of certain readers engaging in name calling via e-mail.Hey,it's not like they didn't know the theme of this site and the stories to begin with.Adding in the fact that that each story has a set of code words and a brief description preceeding the stories.One would hope that these general and specific indicators would warn some of these name callers away from these stories and thus curtail this name calling and other such labels.

The two stories i posted in the library remain unfinished due to the fact that both these stories started life as "custom" stories,which are extensions of long held fantasies by two females.These two females were quite verbal in their correspondence for the early chapters,but as each story progressed,the correspondence either declined to one word feedback,i.e. "Wow","Nice",etc or
no reply at all.Hence,the stories are left in limbo due to the lack of feedback
from these subjects.

Certainly, i received quite a few e-mails from readers who liked these stories and in fact many encouraged later chapters.However,when i replied with a note of thanks and then asked then if there were any ideas they'd like to see in the story concerned there was little or no response regarding this inquiry.

I certainly do not intend to sound like this post is some personal rant,but rather an overview of the sort of things I have run into since the publication of my two stories.Rest assured,I do appreciate the high number of reads both works have received .I also appreciate those reviewers who were kind enough to be constructive in their reviews by suggesting what I could do
to improve my writing.

I agree with that --or ones who have never tried writing anything in their lives-so they have no clue of what it takes ---they just know what they like and dislike

I like your buddy's quote as it indeed relevant to my original post.There again,i often wonder if indeed some these have ever written anything beyond these reviews.Sort of like thay don't mind eating the bread and then complaining about it,but they sure as heck have no idea how to make the bread!

However if one makes a habit of writing bad reviews or picking on certain authors…. That is another matter.

Fantazmaster, in my experience many non pro writers say they will love to get ‘constructive trashing’ but when they get one … hey are not happy with it at all. Unless it says what they want to hear. But detailed review of any kind means someone had taken time to REALLY read the story and that to say something on it.


Please, all of you who write: do not stop writing (and posting) because of the comments. Enjoy WOWS and occasional positive feedback! And ignore pointless reviews and personal comments and silly IMs. That is also artists’ lot …

Well it goes back to why you really write---I write because I enjoy it and hope someone else might also ---I have had bad review--not on this site because the only story I have here was a contest entry---but it would not have mattered to me if I had. I basicly write for me, what I like and when I want. I do not get caught up in errors ---hey my story does not look the way I sent it ---I typed it in 12pt and it shows in 14pt. --- or hey they made an error publishing the chapter number ---and spelled chapter wrong---
I write because it is fun for me to write--if no one like it ---oh well ---I do use spell check ---and try for good grammar ---but hey ---this is a free story ---if you do not like it you lost nothing reading it. Oh yes I like positive comments ---who doesn't but I do not let the negitive ones bother me at all.

I do hope I will get some time to write some stories and publish them here -- but until then I am content with reading and publishing other's stories .

Wow! We have switched to guns now? The is not enough/

Since I use reviews to check on story I try to do the same. Write review for READERS primarly - that is what are they for. Detailed commEnts to authors are better suited for IM I think.

Sorry to admit this, but I'm one of those authors who haven't finished a couple of my stories. I get writer's block and deal with it by taking a break, then work on a short take, or start a new story. Then, I get motivated and inspired to add another chapter to an existing story. It's not a recommended method, but it works for me.

Also, shoulder surgery can put a real cramp in productivity.:

I'm the same writers block is a killer just lately. But instead of starting a new story or short take I move on to the next chapter (Not always possible but I've got a good idea where I want the story to go.) At the moment I've got three chapters started but not finished.

One minor pet hate on critics that say my spelling is wrong just because the words are spelt different in the USA to the UK.

Hopefully the writers block will lift soon so i can get the next chapters posted.
