This is cliché and it is not true, not as a rule. You can check on number of acclaimed literary or movie critics who do not write themselves – and they can be VERY harsh and mean.
However if one makes a habit of writing bad reviews or picking on certain authors…. That is another matter.
Fantazmaster, in my experience many non pro writers say they will love to get ‘constructive trashing’ but when they get one … hey are not happy with it at all. Unless it says what they want to hear. But detailed review of any kind means someone had taken time to REALLY read the story and that to say something on it.
Please, all of you who write: do not stop writing (and posting) because of the comments. Enjoy WOWS and occasional positive feedback! And ignore pointless reviews and personal comments and silly IMs. That is also artists’ lot …![]()
