I feel your pain. I am not married but often find it hard to break this subject with previous boyfriends as some have seen it as an oppurtunity for 'rough sex' not D/s where others simply do not understand and are unable to furfill my submissive needs.

All I can say is talk to your husband. Try and tell him your needs and desires and ask him to express his. It may be hard and something he is not willing to discuss initially but if you do not discuss your needs (as well as his) they will remain just that, needs only. Maybe have him sit down and watch a BDSM movie with you first would be a good start.
