    Question About E-mail Notification

Hi, I don't know if the move to the new forum had anything to do with this, or if there is a setting that needs to be adjusted, but, I used to receive e-mail notices of any private messages I got from friends, etc, via my e-mail address that the forum has. Although I know I have "Receive e-mail notices of private messages" checked in my profile, I don't seem to be receiving e-mails notifying me of my messages. If anyone has any idea of the reason for this, or any setting I could adjust to make this feature return, it would be appreciated. Thank you.

Some ISPs filter out automated emails. I don't know if that is the case here but if all your settings are correct and the forum is in fact generating the notifications automatically you may want to ask your provider if that may be the case.

Thanks for the reply, warbaby. Actually, before the forum reconstruction, I used to receive e-mails notification from the forum. I still get e-mail notification currently from other forums I belong to, so I dont know what the deal is.

I don't know what isp you are using but i do know that AOL has email issuse that block certain domains on certain accounts.

You should be able to change your email address in settings without it disrupting the emails you recieve....

Thanks for the reply. I have Comcast high speed, and what perplexes me is before the forum change, I always got my e-mails, now, I don't receive any at all.

    Thanks again,
    Mitch

I'm getting email notifications of pm's but all out of order and sometimes a long time after they've been received at the forums.

I've been having that for the last few months, so I don't think it's a new server thing. I've often had emails about a PM 5 minutes after I've read the message.

go pick up a free e-mail account, like Hotmail or Yahoo, change your e-mail address on here to the new e-mail account, I have never had a problem getting e-mail from the forum through Hotmail
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result

you should not get locked out of the forums when you change your email information in the user control panel. Make sure to check your options are set to receive email also. Make sure you have your email junk mail settings to allow the forum to send you email, you may have it blocked by accident too. Good Luck, if you have any problems logging in after you change your email address please let me know.

Thank you for the advice, Widget. Actually, since my last post on this topic, I did change my e-mail address for the forum back to my Yahoo account, and I am now receiving my notifications. I appreciate your feedback, and I will contact you if I have any problems in the future.
