The Wall

Safe behind the walls
Impenetrable, solid
The foundations so deep
Laid by sorrow and betrayal
Rejection and pain

The protecting wall
Completely surrounding
Stones tower high and wide
Secured by experience
Loneliness and hurt

The wall face reflecting,
Protecting. Rejecting
All who try to reach in
Polished by dejection
Suffering and heartache

Back against the wall
Trapping, confining
Becoming a prison
Dark and cold
Fight or flight?

The wall breached
Open, exposed
He stands before me
Commanding Demanding
Acceptance of him

The wall crumbles
Defenceless, unarmed
Surrendering to him
Completely, utterly
Possessed and owned
