Krista woke during the night. Tired, she laid still trying to figure out what woke her. Cian was still in bed, and seemed to be asleep. The blanket was still around her body. It was unlikely that she woke because she felt bad for once again stealing all the blanket from Cian. Very carefully she disentangled from the blanket and Cian. On a second thought she actually laid part of the blanket over Cian’s body. While she was gone he could keep the blanket warm. Smiling at that thought, she moved out of the bedroom.
In the living room she paused at the couch to pick up the throw blanket and pull it around her shoulders. A little chilled and without clothes it seemed like a good idea before stepping out on the porch. The breeze outside was pleasant as was the night air. Sitting down on the edge of the porch she stared out into the dark forest. It felt good to be home.
As soon as that thought crossed her mind, she stopped. Home? Really? What was home? What made this home? How long had it been since she had a home? Many years. Yeah she had lived with her parents before being admitted to the hospital but it had not really been home. Not for many years now. Was this really her home? Maybe. That was a strange thought.
After a few more minutes, she stood up and went back into the house. At the bedroom door was she considered if it was better to get back into the bed cold or wet and warm. Laughing to herself, she waited a few more minutes to try to warm up before climbing back in the bed and reclaiming her half of the blanket.
