He did not feel right taking the jacket off the girl but realised that it was far too cold to be chivalrous. It was his own fault for leaving his own coat at work in his hurry to leave.

He peers through the darkness, hoping for some sign of the distant headlights that would indicate the arrival of the bus but the darkness is absolute. The road is empty. There is only the two of them, standing awkwardly next to the bus stop, haloed in the yellow glare from the streetlight above them.

He sighed and turned to Sara. "Looks like we could be here for a while." He smiles and she smiles in return. "Yes, looks like it," she replies.

He looks at his watch and then pulls out his wallet, hoping against hope there would be enough for a taxi. There wasn't but maybe...

"This may be a mad idea, but do you want to share a cab?"
