But seriously, get rid of Norton as soo as you can, it tends not to be worth the system drain. AVG is a pretty low-profile, and very effective anti-virus. AdAware coupled with Spybot S&S works pretty good on XP machines, but tend to get along like a house on fire if you're running Vista. So use MalwareBytes instead. For a firewall, DO NOT use the windows firewall, under any circumstances. It's either too protective to be useful or leaks like a sieve. I use Zonealarm by CheckPoint, which is a snap to set up and only takes a little while for it to "learn" how to behave. If you want more security, get Comodo firewall. Another helpful little program which takes virtually no system resources is Winpatrol by Billip studios. It's a teensey little program, available in both free and non-free versions with the non-free version having a few more features. It sits and monitors you system for significant changes like new startup programs added, changes to your browser's host file, change of home page, and so on, and so forth. It can also be a very help aid for locating those programs with weird names like "wmiprvse.exe" and it'll usually have a quick description of what the program is and what it does. It'll also help a lot for getting rid of stuff by deleting files on startup before any program gets into place to restore said files. I have not as yet extensively tested it on a vista machine, but it's wonderful for XP machines and takes almost no system resources!

I know there was an update to help deter the onslaught of spammers we had it really should only happen if you are trying to link into the post body with a URL of another site or of Images.

Editing a post is only available for 15 minutes max after the post. Otherwise not available. the reason for this is unfortunately issues from the past with members changing posts after "issues".

The last few days I have had problems with the site. The problems have been an inability to log in, everything resulting in a datatbase error, slow or non loading pages, and inability to go to main chat. I can log in at least now. But hopefully this will all get fixed. I was getting very frustrated when for like 1-2 days everything I clicked on resulted in a database error and I could not log in or follow the contact us link to tell anyone of my woes, and Google could not provide me with a support email for the site. In the future perhaps it would be good if a generic support email is listed when you hover over the contact us link, or is just known to the general public/me or something. Maybe this is already the case and I am just unaware...

UPDATE: My avatar and profile pic have reverted to those of an earlier date, so has my signature, my profile information, and my profile's visitor messages. I forgot to check my friends list, but I wouldn't be surprised to find it has changed to. Something is definitely up here.

FURTHER UPDATE: All my friends are gone from my friend list. I'm now friendless.

yes the entire site was/is down, they prolly had to do a reset to the earlier date in order to correct the problem.
The last time this happened, it was a hacker with a malicious attack.
Rest assured that Tiger and the tech team are working on these issues, (much appreciated to for all the hard work - big hugs...if I could send cookies, I would)
Hopefully this will get fixed really soon

Hopefully this is just to get the site running. Because if not everything since then is lost including my profile.

Well, I managed to log in, with my old email address, etc. The forum seems to have reverted back to March with the posts and such. Does this mean that all data posted since March is gone for good, or will it return?

usually thered be a more recent backup but some error in the storing may cause delay or difficulties in getting the missing data back in place.

For now thou the front page indicates loss of some data back to 4/1-2009 (cant put a link in yet)
