    Thanking posters in forums

    Aloha folks

just wondered if it is possible to return the ability to thank posters in the forums? I used to like this ability and I know others did to. Perhaps it is out with the design of the new revamped site but I thought I'd ask.

    Keep up the great work.

How about just saying it; hearing your comments/thoughts are appreciated is kind of civilized

It's how we did it in the prior encarnations of the site.

    As in...

Thanx for bringing up the subject of how to thank people for their input.

I guess. I like being able to just indicate thank you without making an entire post about it.

Yeah. We didn't use to have the feature. It was part of the vBulletin upgrade the last time, now we've done this grade & done an override so it's *poof*'d. Honestly, I am personally not sad to see it go--it turns into a popularity contest in threads for the most part. However, I also do understand it's worth--often you just want to say "YES. ON POINT" rather than posting a seperate post just to say that. So... there are 2 sides to the coin, but, for now, it's gone...

Thanks for the inquiry though... and for the polite way in which it was done

Aloha and thanks for the prompt answer Deels. I am sure you have way much more important stuff to do. I do appreciate the popularity contest thing and kinda agree but as one poster said sometimes ya just want to say 'yeah on point' without posting. Guess I am getting lazy and will advise all to follow Ozme and Anticipating and just thank folk in a thread. (Can't believe how stupid I can be at times LOL). Thanks to all who took the time to post.

    Thanks?

Is there any plan to restore the Thanks buttons, or have you abandonned that feature?

One thing that is convenient about the thanks button is that it doesn't show up as a new post in your feed. I like to check out new posts when I'm notified of them, and I'm sometimes a bit annoyed to be honest when they're, like, oh yes I agree with the person above me. I think I'd feel the same way if they were just a thank you.

The "Thanks" button made the image posts much cleaner, as more posts filled with images will then fit on a page. That change, as well as the removal of thumbnails, both make contributing images and updating the thread a bit of a hassle.

It's unfortunate - the "upgrade" removed this feature in the middle of a thread in which we were relying on it to vote for ideas in a roleplay, making particularly lousy timing for us.

I'm not at all happy with the new board, not least because I am now typing this blind (the reply box is no longer visible to me, since it appears *behind* later posts!) the colour scheme is no improvement either.

If we ask really nicely, could we *please* have the old forums back?! It does seem a little faster now, but apart from that I see no improvement at all, just a series of things either removed or deteriorated. (That 'please' was supposed to be bold, by the way, but having switched to "advanced" view so I could see the text box I was typing in, the formatting buttons appear in black-on-black...)
