That first thing you pictured is actually an example of sexual ingenuity applied to veterinary science. It's called a 'twitch' and is used to grab the nose of a large animal (cow, horse) to lead it around more docilely. One end goes in each nostril.

Be sure to clean the snot off before you try it on a human.
