If it will help in diagnosing the problem, I followed all the procedures that Torq suggested in his postings. The chat button is still missing from the toolbar. Has anyone succeeded in getting into the chat room? If so the problem might be at my end.

There have been recent issues because Adobe has started including one of Symantec's Norton Anti-Virus products in its latest downloads of the flash player - I wonder if this is what you mean?
