Which browser are you using on the Windows machine? The problem is still there, it's just some browsers warn you about it, some don't - rather like Homer Simpson's sticking plaster over the 'Check Engine' light...

I know from experience that ones posts are moderated and I understand the reson for it. However, both posts I most recently posted (one today and one yesterday)were moderated. Were there that many posts that mine was just next up, again?

Also, is there a reason why Fun and Games posts are also moderated, as they usually depend on the post above and often people are posting immediately (or almost immediately) after each other and having a post moderated just messes with that, resulting in it being visible too late and looking totally random.

some posts are moderated and some can be set so people of certain rankings posts in certain threads like say for example people who are members but not done the email activation link can have it set where their posts are moderated but more often than not it is to avoid spambots if a spammer makes an account and activates it then sets up a spambot program they can mass spam in threads imagine 10 spam posts in less than 5 minutes

That makes sense, thank you, but I am not new by any means. I post fairly often and have been moderated before. Just since yesterday that I was moderated twice in row.

My concern isn't about being moderated, more about being moderated twice in two days.

I wondered what would prompt that?

was the post you did removed because if it was removed it may have violated a rule also if the site is changing things around sometimes access levels get reset or restricted you could have had that happen I noticed this site acting weird lately

Ok, this is bordering on redicilous...
3 posts moderated in 18 hr's. The OnlY 3 posts I wrote on the forums..... And it wasnt as if the forums were bustling with activity.
Why bother posting???

I am sure it's just some glitch and will be fixed soon. It takes a lot to run the site, I wouldn't stress so much..*shrug* I am sure this will be moderated ..*grin*

No point in stressing over it, just kinda hard to get involved in the forums this way. Hope they are able to fix it soon, I was just starting to get involved in more than just the fun and games forum.

There is this lovely allegory that I was reminded of as yet another post was moderated.

There once was a frog. He was having a merry time on his log during the lovely hot summer. As autumn approached he was still unconcerned about spending time outside while many other frog had already started to look around for some shelter.

As the first snow flakes fell, the frog's friends urged him to go under the water with them....but he didn't want to. He claimed to enjoy the snow. As winter progressed his friends would, every so often go back to the surface to urge him to reconsider. He would just sit there and remind them that he can take care of himself. He can decide for himself when it is time to go. And he just didn't feel like it yet. Yes, moving around became more difficult in the cold, but he was certain he didn't need his friend's advice.

Until one night, it snowed a lot. It was the first snow storm. The frog suddenly realised that he needed to get under the water. Now is the time! And as he tried to get up to jump into the cold water, he realised to his horror that he couldn't move. His body had slowly, slowly started to freeze. It didnt happen in one day, but gradually. He had gotten so used to less and less movement being possible, he never even realised he was freezing.

Of course, such an allegory has many morals....
The one that having every single post moderated reminded me of, was how we slowly get acclimatised to a situation. How we don't realise the severity of the situation because we become used to the status quo.
Something that was a frustration and something that made us frown and question, is now expected.
I worry for the Library's forums...4 weeks since the first issues with moderation...

Please don't misunderstand. This is Not a rant or even a complaint. It is simply expressing a worry over the forums.
I have invested more than 3 years of posts and blogs in the Library. I feel a sense of responsibility. But am I the only one who noticed the decline in posts the past 3 weeks? Am I the only one worried?
And 'we are working on it' is a perfectly acceptable feedback... I realise this is an 'over-and-above-the day-job-thing' and I accept it, but......*bites lip* I'm simply expressing my worry.

I for one won't continue posting if this keeps up, unresolved for much longer. It's just not my cup of tea.

You are right Justine. I have stopped posting in the fun forum because it simply doesn't work with everything being moderated. I also am loathe to post elsewhere, although I have tried again today. I suspect a lot of people feel the same way as we cannot post "real time".

this is an imperfect workaround i know, but setting up a 'group' for the fun and games would mean the group admin (whoever sets up the group) can moderate the posts too... may speed the process in the meanwhile, until this is sorted?

THANK YOU Sir for putting in all the hours I KNOW you all did to fix the problem. It takes a lot of work to keep the site up and I appreciate all you and everyone does behind the scenes. I think people tend to forget it takes time to find and solve all the problems. It doesn't run itself......

I think that there is a difference between expressing concern for an ongoing problem and complaining, or being ungrateful. None of the posts were, in my opinion the latter. I visit the site daily and most especially the forums. There was a decilne, and most sharply the past 2 weeks. Others and myself, expressed our concern. My posts never suggested that I expect everything to run smoothly all the time (if it did, I'd like to be told so I can correct it if need be.)

But, the other side of the coin is also that the running of the forums are dependant on people posting. This is something Torq cannot do without us. And so, respectfully expressing a concern is, in my opinion justified and in All of our best interests.

The Library is an amazing resource and i for one am extremely grateful for it. But if something itsn't working and hurting it, surely expressing it is better than gossping about the possible reasons for it and finding another site? And that, in a nutshell, is what this thread was about.
