turning about
seeing where they land
from the depths
no one else can see
where my mind stores
its pain & misery

Wrecked
Torn
Adrift
Am I
not capable of being still?
Of being calm?
Of letting past torments
be buried
nevermore to be found?

Sleep affords no peace
my past
comes to haunt
It is more
a battleground
of nightmares
than any rest
I would want

Will there ever come a time
when past pain fades
when I gain release
my demons kept at bay?
Will this be the day
that they finally stay away?

I can only hope...
