In France, it's "Freedom, brotherhood and equality (ou la morte)", in Belgium it's "Strength through unity" (in two separate languages). The USA has "In God we trust", the Greeks, "Freedom or death".
Britain has no national motto, and George Brown has suggested we should. Any ideas what it might be, people? So far, the suggestions have included:
Best before 1939
Britain: reassuringly expensive.
Britain: crappy, but we love it.
Mustn't grumble.
Smile. You're on CCTV.
May contain nuts.
Get blotto, play Lotto: that's our motto.
I'm sure people here can come up with some too ...
