In my ongoing attempt to find my own style, I tried to capture the spirit of "sword and sorcery" in a world of epic magic.

One of the things I noticed while discussing short stories with beswitchingly is that there is no room for a detailed background which makes writing a fantastic setting so difficult. I fell back to leaving everything unexplained but most readers are at least somewhat familiar with such a world from some late night movie or high-school D&D session. I think without such familiartity, a short story with such a massive baggage of necessary background information would not be viable.
