Liberals tend to confuse the notions of improvement and change; when the public are asking for a change they actually mean they want an improvement that they can understand and actually does something. Liberals take it to mean that the public want the whole system to be changed. All Obama had to do with Healthcare was copy Britain's NHS or Australia's Medicare but instead he had to try and restructure the whole industry and people didn't want that. Rather than admit they made a mistake the liberals are now saying that opposing their Healthcare reform makes you evil- which is not exactly designed to get a compromise is it?

People voted for Obama in good measure because they supported Health Care reform- somehow he and his buddies have convinced themselves that in the space of twelve months people have changed their minds on the basic premise of wanting reform. They voted in overwhelming numbers for a black President and now his advisors think that Americans are all racists. Rather than admit that they screwed up, Obama and co have decided that they know what is best and the rest of America are idiots or devils.
The same thing is happening in Australia with the ETS; a big complex change for the sake of being seen to be doing something and then cracking up cranky when people start asking hard questions like "Will it work?"

Liberals have no problem with moralising in politics as long as it is in support of their ideology.
