    email virus

I need help here. I have an email account that randomly mails out spam to people. I know it is a virus, but I have no idea how to find it or remove it.

Any help at all will be greatly appreciated.

Your email account; Is it a yahoo msn or gmail, or some other online account? If not, and the email comes to you from your internet provider, and you use outlook express or outlook to check your email, ensure your anti-virus is updated, and do a scan. Also run malware bytes, it's a free program.

If you're using an online account, change your password.

You might also consider changing your browser settings so as NOT to save your passwords. While this might be convenient, it's one more possible area of threat.

You might try going to this link if you have gmail)

also ...even though you may have resecured your account, they could be working off a copy of your contacts list and not even be in your account anymore. just something to keep in mind

Are you sure the emails are going from your account? How do you know?

If you know there is a problem because your friends are complaining, it could simply be that your address has been harvested from someone else's PC, or from an email you may have ill-advisedly replied to once (one of those viral messages that do the rounds from time to time would do it) and the emails now being sent have spoofed headers which make it look like they have come from you, when in fact they haven't...
