    The Past

    Burnt bridges, and forgotten friends
Regretting those decisions for days on end
You could never comprehend the damage you'd wrought
You kept moving on, not sparring them a thought
Never one to think, and quick to act
You told yourself you wouldn't look back
You knew it was a lie, but you didn't care
And the past is something you can't repair
So here you sit not knowing what to do
As you past begins to catch up to you
The end comes when we no longer talk with ourselves. It is the end of genuine thinking and the beginning of the final loneliness. The remarkable thing is that the cessation of the inner dialogue marks also the end of our concern with the world around us. It is as if we noted the world and think about it only when we have to report it to ourselves.

I really liked this poem. Some of the lines have more syllables than others, so the first time I read through it that threw me off a little bit, but when I reread it, I realized that the fact that it isn't so structured is genius because it underscores the theme of being in-the-moment. You have a lot of talent, and it's apparent that you poured a lot of emotion into this piece.
