The is a very long, multi-volume, story. Each volume is likely to have 6 or more realated chapters. Each new Volume will be published every month or two and the story should wrap-up by year end. The story central story line is about two well built, young, dancers; one white and one black, one straight, and one lesbian, one from a rural environment and the other from a metropolitan area. Each girl is drawn to explore various levels of pain and pleasure in a variety of exotic situations. |

Lewis Chappelle is a weird chap --authorwise I mean. Able of making a bric-a-brac of many of his sentences (in some of his other stories), he also seems prone to what a lot of so-called writers are diseased with, and that is trying too hard to please the unseen crowd.
Not so in "Day And Knight". Here, Lewis seems to have followed an idea without paying too much attention to what people might think, resulting in some solid storytelling and some pretty decent paintings of characters.
I feel this is among the best that Chappelle has written so far. Or at least, the best of what I've read so far.
Okay, so there's a lot of eyebrow raising going on because of some left-behind words after making corrections in the text. And the odd spelling mistake. The latter aren't a nuisance, the former are, as they hamper the fluidity of the reading because of putting the reader on the wrong leg.
But overall, this is magnificent storytelling. No doubt about it.
The only small complaint I still have, is about the fact that Lewis Chappelle should watch the balance of some paragraphs containing dialogue: sometimes there's long conversations without explanatory breaks, and sometimes there's breaks in-between dialogue which are too long (the breaks I mean).
Giving background info in short, to the point bursts after almost every sentence (when possible) could do wonders...
