In a rape case here recently the girl had had a tv remote shoved up her ass (?!) It was not stated whether the gadget was functional afterwards...(and the two men on the bench were acquitted)

Yes it is - the court judged amazingly that the boys might not have understood that the girl was unwilling even though she was clearly fighting back and protesting (that case is up for appeal soon). What's even worse is that, within months, one of those dudes got into another violent late-nighter two-on-one, the girl filed for rape and claimed she had been drugged before they took advantage of her - but the case didn't even get to a trial. Both times around, the court received many angry e-mails and phone calls and it got very controversial.
